Install the Decile MCP in ChatGPT

You can connect Decile to ChatGPT as a custom plugin, giving ChatGPT direct access to your Decile data so you can ask questions about your customers, orders, and personas right inside a chat. This article walks you through connecting the Decile MCP in ChatGPT and how to use it once it's installed.

Before you start

You'll need to turn on Developer Mode in ChatGPT. Developer mode is what lets you add a custom plugin like Decile.

  1. Open your user settings in ChatGPT.
  2. Go to Plugins.
  3. Find Developer mode and toggle it on.

Step 1: Start adding a new plugin

  1. Navigate to Plugins.
  2. Click the plus sign (+) next to the search box to open the New Plugin form.

Step 2: Fill out the New Plugin form

Enter the following details:

  • Name: Decile
  • Description: Analyze ecommerce data
  • Connection: https://mcp.decile.com/mcp
  • Authentication: OAuth

Then accept the Custom MCP terms.

Step 3: Create the plugin

Click Create. ChatGPT will set up the plugin and prompt you to connect your account.

Step 4: Sign in with Decile

  1. When prompted, sign in using your Decile login.
  2. Review and accept the permissions requested.

Once you've signed in, you'll be redirected back to ChatGPT, where the Decile plugin will now show as installed.

Using the Decile plugin

There are two ways to put the plugin to work:

  • Ask a question naturally. Pose a question that would draw on your Decile data — for example, "How many customers did I have last quarter?" — and ChatGPT will use the Decile plugin to answer.
  • Call Decile directly. Type @Decile in your prompt to invoke the plugin explicitly for that question.
